How to scrap your car in Croydon

If you've got a scrap car in or near Croydon it's easy to have it scrapped for free.

  1. Contact us and let us know the details of your scrap car and arrange a time for us to tow it away.
  2. We collect the logbook from you and tow away the car at the allotted time. If you prefer you can mail the logbook to us before we come to collect your car. (If you do not have the logbook we can still scrap the car but you will need to let us know prior to us towing it away and you will need to inform the DVLA in writing of your intention to have the car scrapped.)
  3. We give you back section 9 of the logbook along with an intent of destruction certificate.
  4. You should then send section 9 to the DVLA.
  5. We mail the remainder of the logbook to the DVLA, make a SORN (let them know that the car is off the road) and tell them that the vehicle can now be de-registered.
  6. The DVLA should notify you within 4 to 6 weeks.

What do we do with your scrap car once we've towed it away?

Once we've towed away your old car for scrap we will remove any parts that can be reused in some way (such as the tyres and the battery). We then separate out the parts that can be recycled such as the catalytic converter. Any hazardous parts are also removed from your scrap car and properly disposed of and any fuel remaining in the fuel tank is also removed. Finally, the vehicle is crushed.
